Dear Sarifa Islam Satu,

I read your letter two weeks ago and I must admit that I am impressed at how beautifully you have written this letter. It is so organised and detailed which I could never do; I am no good at writing letters. I loved reading about your childhood memory, and it made me miss my parents, Bangladesh and all the things that I did as a child flooded back to my mind. I could not think of anything similar to your story because I do not remember having any traditions like that with either of my parents. But I remember this one tradition where during iftar Baba (my father) used to make us recite verses from the Quran and I always used to look forward to that specific moment every day. I do not know why but it always filled my heart with a warm feeling.

What are your plans for summer? I am excited for summer. It is so gloomy here in Scotland, I feel like I am living in a black and white picture; the only bright side (which is not the sun) is that it is a modern black and white movie. Speaking of summer, I was talking to my sister yesterday and she told me about the horrible weather in Bangladesh. How are you adjusting to that weather?

Are you a fan of action movies? I personally am not. I do not like violence in both real and fictional lives. But I absolutely love John Wick and it was released around my birthday, so I booked two tickets-one for me and one for my sister. I was disappointed with this new chapter of John Wick’s life. Keanu Reeves barely had two dialogues and it was all about who kills whom first. No proper story line and an extremely basic story build up. I know that I am not a movie critic, but I wanted more from this movie because I was really into the ones before this.

I hope you enjoyed my first letter! I am not great at writing long stories or letters. I am looking forward to your next letter. Let me know if my letters bore you or if you actually enjoy them!

Sincerely yours,

Eva
